Assessment Overview

Dyslexia Assessment Battery

Appropriate for students 7 – 18 years of age ( 1st – 12th grades)

Purpose: To diagnose dyslexia and/or gain insights into reasons a student is struggling in reading, writing or spelling

Administration time: 60-90 minutes depending on age of student

Cost: $500.00

Tests included in battery: Standardized

 

  • Oral and Written Language Scales

  • Test of Nonverbal Intelligence

  • Comprehensive Test of Phonological Processing

  • Test of Word Reading Efficiency

  • Gray Oral Reading Test

  • Test of Written Spelling

 

Criterion-referenced (nonstandardized) tests:

 

  • Handwriting analysis

  • Primary Spelling Inventory

  • Wilson Assessment of Decoding and Encoding (sounds and words subtests)

  • Written expression (fourth grade and above)

  • CORE Reading Maze Comprehension Test

Emergent Literacy Assessment Battery

Appropriate for students 4-6 years of age ( PK – 1st grade)

Purpose: To identify emergent literacy weaknesses which are common in young students who may be at risk for a reading disability such as dyslexia.

Administration time: 60 minutes

Cost:

$450.00 for preschool students

$450.00 for kindergarten and first grade students

  • Test of Language and Emergent Literacy

  • Comprehensive Test of Phonological Processing

  • Beery Test of Visual Motor Integration

  • Test of Word Reading Efficiency (6 year/first grade)

  • Test of Written Spelling (6 year/first grade)
