Work History And Responsibilities

Madison County Board of Education – Speech/Language Pathologist ( 1982- 2006)

Responsibilities:

  • Administered comprehensive diagnostic test batteries and intervention in areas of articulation, language, voice, fluency and auditory processing for students ranging in age from 3-18 years.

  • Created and implemented intervention plans (IEP’s).

  • Provided on-going support t classroom teachers regarding teaching strategies and classroom accommodations which were necessary to assist language-impaired students in reaching their optimal academic and social potential.

  • Worked with general and special education teachers in the inclusion setting using a team-teaching approach.

  • Developed and presented workshops to teachers on various topics including auditory processing, social skills development, language impairment and dyslexia.

  • Served as a member of the DIBELS team.

  • Completed hearing and vision screenings to student population.

Private Practice in Huntsville , Alabama (2005 – present)

Scope Of Services:

  • Provide comprehensive diagnostic evaluations for students with language disorders and/or dyslexia.

  • Provide intervention services for students with dyslexia ( I have recently discontinued this component of my practice).

Additional Work While In Private Practice:

  • Contracted with Greengate School ( 2006- 2020) to provide dyslexia evaluations.

  • Created and implemented preschool screenings at Greengate School ( 2015-2019).

  • Worked with the Scottish Rite Foundation Learning Centers of Alabama providing dyslexia assessments ( 2005-2009)

  • Worked as an intervention teacher for students with reading disabilities at Valley Fellowship Christian Academy ( 2017-2019).

  • Provided dyslexia evaluations for the Dyslexia Center of the Shoals ( 2012- present)

  • Provided dyslexia evaluations for Lindsay Lane Christian Academy ( 2008 – present)
